Dr Krystal Buchanan Cooke

Dr. Krystal Buchanan Cooke, is a double fellowship-trained, board-certified radiologist specializing in Neuroradiology and Advanced Multimodal Imaging. Driven by a philosophy of evidence-based, compassionate, and detail-oriented patient care, Dr. Buchanan Cooke brings extensive clinical expertise to our DH medical imaging team.

Dr. Buchanan Cooke earned her medical degree from the Howard University College of Medicine, where she graduated with top academic honors as a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) National Medical Honor Society. She completed her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at the prestigious Yale Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, where she also completed an Enfolded Fellowship across Body, Musculoskeletal, and Breast Imaging, followed by a formal Fellowship in Neuroradiology.

Her comprehensive skill set spans advanced MRI and CT interpretation, including stroke, neuro-oncology, and trauma imaging, as well as complex abdominal, musculoskeletal, women, and PET/tumor imaging. She is also highly proficient in precise image-guided procedures, including ultrasound and MRI-guided biopsies, spine interventions, and arthrograms.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Buchanan Cooke is a dedicated global health leader and researcher. She serves as a Program Manager for RAD-AID International, leading outreach efforts to expand medical imaging access globally. Her award-winning research has been widely presented at national forums, including the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) and the National Medical Association (NMA).

Dr. Buchanan Cooke holds medical licenses in the United States and in the Caribbean. Fluent in medical Spanish, she is deeply committed to bridging communication gaps and delivering culturally competent care to diverse patient populations. Outside of her medical practice, she enjoys dancing, practicing yoga, playing badminton, pickleball, and sewing.
