Dr Rebecca Mawer

Dr. Rebecca is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Doctors Hospital. She has over 25 years of experience in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine, having practised in the United Kingdom from 1998 before relocating to the Cayman Islands in 2024.

She has experience across the full range of anaesthetic practice, caring for patients of all ages. She has a particular interest in paediatric anaesthesia and in supporting patients with additional needs, and completed part of her specialist paediatric anaesthetic training at Great Ormond Street Hospital in London.

Dr. Rebecca also has a specialist interest in airway management and has extensive experience providing anaesthetic care for ENT and maxillofacial surgery throughout her career.

Alongside her clinical work, she has a strong interest in teaching and training. Since 1997, she has been involved in resuscitation training, including directing annual paediatric and adult courses and supporting the development of junior doctors and multidisciplinary teams.

She has also been involved in clinical governance and national patient safety work, contributing to the development of anaesthetic safety standards. Her previous roles include Trust Appraisal Lead and Royal College of Anaesthetists Tutor.

Outside of medicine, she enjoys scuba diving and has completed diving doctor training, allowing her to support divers and diving professionals with medical assessments and guidance on safe return to diving after illness or injury.
