Dr James Boyden

Dr. James is a Consultant Anaesthetist at Doctors Hospital. Before moving to the Cayman Islands, he had over 25 years of experience as a specialist anaesthetist in the UK, based in Cornwall, following extensive UK specialist training. He spent over a decade working in intensive care medicine before focusing entirely on general anaesthesia, with a particular interest in vascular surgery.

Alongside his clinical practice, Dr. James has worked as a Medical Examiner in the UK, as well as an immediate care doctor providing trackside support for equestrian sport. He has a strong interest in training and education, and previously delivered simulation-based introductory anaesthesia training for new resident anaesthetists at his hospital. He also brings leadership experience in clinical governance, with a longstanding interest in Human Factors and improving safety and communication within the operating theatre environment.

Since relocating to the Cayman Islands, he has enjoyed becoming part of the local community and working within the highly skilled and diverse team at Doctors Hospital.

Outside of medicine, he enjoys an active lifestyle and is looking forward to expanding his time in and on the water, building on his interests in snorkelling and diving.
