Recognized for its state-of-the-art facilities and a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, the hospital offers not only top-tier medical services but also a welcoming environment for patients and their loved ones. Central to this hospitable atmosphere are the thoughtfully designed visiting hours, which balance the needs of patients for rest and recovery with the invaluable support that visitors provide.

Visiting a loved one in the hospital is an important part of the healing process. At Doctors Hospital in the Cayman Islands, we strive to create an environment that supports both patients and their families. Our visiting hours and policies are designed to ensure comfort, care, and the best possible healthcare experience.

Visiting Hours

General Visiting Hours: 7 days a week, 11:00am – 7:00pm

Urgent Care & Walk-Ins: Open 24 hours, 7 days a week

Specialty Units and Visiting Hours

Certain units within the hospital have specific visiting hours to ensure specialized care:

1. Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Visiting Hours:

  •  Visiting Hours: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Due to the critical nature of patients in the ICU, visiting hours are restricted to two periods each day. This allows patients to receive the intense medical attention they need while still providing time for family support.

2. Maternity Ward Visiting Hours:

  • Visiting Hours: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • The maternity ward has more extended visiting hours to accommodate the joyful occasions of childbirth, allowing family members ample time to bond with the new addition to their family. Our maternity services include comprehensive care for expectant mothers and their newborns.

Visiting Loved Ones in Different Departments

  • Oncology and Radiology Departments: Visitors are welcome during general visiting hours. However, during specific treatments or procedures, visitation may be restricted.
  • Inpatient and Outpatient Services: Visitors can accompany patients for check-ins, consultations, and procedures, but must adhere to the general visiting hours.

Visitor Guidelines

Doctors Hospital emphasizes the importance of a serene and supportive environment for healing. To this end, the hospital has implemented several guidelines:

  • Number of Visitors: Typically, no more than two visitors are allowed per patient at any one time. This helps maintain a calm and quiet atmosphere conducive to recovery.
  • Health and Safety: Visitors are required to adhere to health and safety protocols, including hand hygiene and wearing masks when necessary.
  • Duration of Visits: While the hospital does not impose strict time limits on visits, it encourages visitors to be mindful of the patient’s need for rest.
  • Quiet Hours: To support a restful night for all patients, the hospital enforces quiet hours from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, during which visitors are generally not permitted unless in special circumstances or emergencies.
  • Check-In Process: All visitors must check in at the main entrance and receive a visitor badge. This ensures the safety and security of all patients and staff.
  • Age Restrictions: Children under 12 are generally not permitted to visit certain areas, such as the ICU and oncology units, to protect vulnerable patients.

Special Considerations

Doctors Hospital recognizes that there are exceptional situations that may require flexibility with visiting hours. For instance, patients who are critically ill, or those in palliative care, may need extended family presence.

Ensuring Patient Comfort and Wellness At Doctors Hospital, patient comfort and wellness are our top priorities. Family presence plays a crucial role in a patient’s recovery journey, offering emotional support and companionship.
