Serving Patients, Serving Community: Dr. Winston Isles Joins National Youth Commission

Dr. Winston Isles, a dedicated General Practitioner and Urgent Care Physician at Doctors Hospital, has been recently appointed as the Registered Medical Practitioner for the National Youth Commission. A recognition that highlights both his professional excellence and his commitment to the community.

For more than 15 years, Dr. Isles has served communities across the Caribbean as a General Practitioner and Emergency Physician, including time spent in Cayman Brac where his medical care and community outreach left a lasting impression. He now continues this work at our hospital, where patients value both his expertise and his approachable style of care. Beyond medicine, he dedicates himself to youth development, serving on the Cricket West Indies High Performance and Coaching Development Committee.

That same commitment to supporting young people has now been recognised through his appointment to the National Youth Commission, an achievement that reflects both his professional excellence and his public-spirited service.

The National Youth Commission plays a central role in shaping the future of young people in the Cayman Islands. Comprising up to 16 members drawn from youth, the public sector, private sector, and civil society, the Commission operates under the Ministry of Youth, Sports & Heritage’s priority of “Enhancing and Empowering our Youth.”

The Commission’s key objectives include:

  • Harnessing and developing the full potential of youth as partners in nation-building;
  • Providing leadership in the formulation of the National Youth Policy;
  • Identifying the concerns and needs of young people and recommending improvements to social, economic, educational, and recreational programmes;
  • Encouraging wide and active youth engagement in government and community initiatives.

On his appointment, Dr. Isles shared: “I am honoured to be appointed to the National Youth Commission. Supporting the next generation has always been close to my heart, and I look forward to contributing to policies and initiatives that empower Cayman’s youth to thrive.

With his blend of medical expertise, community spirit, and dedication to youth development, Dr. Isles is well positioned to help advance the Commission’s mission: to enhance and empower young people as active partners in the Cayman Islands’ growth and success.
