Frontiers of Healthcare 2026 Draws More Than 300 Attendees as Cayman’s Healthcare Community Explores “Shaping What Comes Next”
Cayman Islands, September 2026 – Doctors Hospital Cayman and Integra Healthcare are proud to celebrate the success of the third annual Frontiers of Healthcare (FOH) conference, which welcomed more than 300 healthcare professionals, policymakers, innovators and sector stakeholders to Hotel Indigo on Friday, September 18. Held under the theme Shaping What Comes Next, the full-day programme examined where healthcare is headed, from bedside to boardroom, and how the Cayman Islands can get there together.
Now firmly established as a fixture on the local healthcare calendar, this year’s conference brought together nearly 20 speakers, panellists and moderators across cardiology, ophthalmology, radiology, neurology, psychiatry, oncology, surgery, emergency medicine and primary care. Attendees were also eligible to earn Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for participating in eligible sessions.

The 2026 agenda introduced several formats designed to spark cross-disciplinary conversation.
Deputy Chief Medical Officer Mark Paramlall opened the day with his message on uniting as a nation against hypertension, using global examples of where collaboration amongst HCPs brought a significant decrease in hypertension leading to better outcomes in both the long and short-term for the nation’s health.
A joint radiology session, Two Perspectives, One Frontier, paired diagnostic neuroradiology with minimally invasive interventional radiology to show how the two specialties work hand in hand. In the afternoon, back-to-back sessions on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) offered delegates both a psychiatric and a neurological view of the same emerging therapy.
The conference also brought together family physicians from four independent practices across the island for a panel on coordinated care, reflecting a shared commitment to collaboration across Cayman’s healthcare sector. The day closed with a rooftop cocktail hour at PomPom, that sought to continue the collaborative conversations started earlier in the day.
Key Points from the Discussions
National prevention in practice. Chief Nursing Officer Felicia McLean opened the programme with a national perspective on implementing the HEART Programme, outlining how government, hospitals and community clinics can work together to turn policy into better patient care.
Hypertension remains a priority. Cardiologist Dr. Krzysztof Kukula revisited hypertension in light of recent clinical guidelines, making the case for why one of the most common conditions in medicine continues to demand attention.
The GP at the centre of complex care. Moderated by Richard Harrison, Chief Financial Officer of Doctors Hospital and Integra Healthcare, Dr. Sarah Cuff (Seven Mile Medical Clinic), Dr. Samantha Digby (The Family Practice), Dr. Melissa Mascaro (Cayman Clinic) and Dr. Grant Rogers (Doctors Hospital) discussed how family physicians coordinate care for patients with multiple conditions.
GLP-1s and the eye. Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon Dr. Brenda Mulenga announced the upcoming launch of Ophthalmology at Integra Healthcare, and reviewed diabetic ocular healthcare and how GLP-1 medications are changing the landscape for patients and clinicians.
From diagnosis to minimally invasive treatment. Dr. Krystal Buchanan Cooke and Prof. Dr. Sven Walter demonstrated how advanced imaging and image-guided procedures can shorten the path from diagnosis to treatment.
The future of colorectal cancer screening. Moderated by Kathy Miller of Radio Cayman, Dr. Alfred Choy, Dr. David Kwinter, Dr. Natalie Sharpe and Dr. Darley Solomon explored how screening can reach more people, earlier.
TMS, two perspectives. Consultant Psychiatrist Dr. Stenette Davis and Neurologist Dr. Ryan Punambolam each presented their specialty’s view of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation and its growing role in patient care.
Recognising bias in clinical reasoning. Emergency Medicine Physician Dr. Richard Sebuwufu closed the programme with a look at how anchoring, availability bias and premature closure can creep into clinicians’ decision-making.
