Dr David Kwinter

Dr. David Kwinter is a dual-certified physician in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine, with a career spanning diverse clinical environments, from high-volume urban emergency departments to remote island communities.

He relocated to Grand Cayman in 2023 and now practices at Doctors Hospital, where he sees patients in both the Family Medicine clinic and the Urgent Care department.

Dr. Kwinter earned his MD from the University of Kentucky and completed his postgraduate training at the award-winning Memorial University of Newfoundland. His career has included operating a solo rural family practice and serving in multiple single-physician emergency departments, experiences that have honed his broad, adaptable scope of practice.

In Canada, Dr. Kwinter cared for a large elderly population, gaining extensive experience in managing patients with multiple chronic conditions. This perspective has instilled in him a strong commitment to promoting healthy living and delivering high-quality preventive medicine to help keep Cayman’s relatively young population healthy and sustain its healthcare system.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Kwinter is an experienced medical educator. For several years, he taught the core Family Medicine clerkship at Memorial University and served as a preceptor for residents and nurse practitioner students. He has also been an assessor for international medical graduates pursuing Canadian licensure through the Practice Ready Assessment Newfoundland and Labrador program.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Kwinter enjoys being a father to three boys (all of whom he has stitched up more than once) and has interests ranging from open-water swimming to computer programming.
