Doctors Hospital Cayman Achieves Prestigious JCI Accreditation, 8th Edition

Cayman Islands, September 26 2025 – Doctors Hospital Cayman is proud to announce it has officially received accreditation from the Joint Commission International (JCI), under their recently adopted 8th edition standards for hospitals. This edition of the accreditation is considered the most rigorous, and is a globally recognized standard of healthcare excellence.

This milestone positions Doctors Hospital among the top tier of hospitals worldwide, reaffirming its commitment to delivering safe, patient-centered, and technologically advanced care to the Cayman Islands community.

Of note, the recently adopted edition of the standards represents the most demanding criteria to date, with newly added requirements around environmental sustainability, global health impact, advanced healthcare technology, and deeper integration of patient-centered care. Fewer hospitals globally have reached this benchmark, making Doctors Hospital’s achievement a remarkable accomplishment.

A Milestone Moment

Receiving official news of the accreditation one day before their annual Frontiers of Healthcare conference, the Doctors Hospital leadership team took a moment to announce and celebrate the achievement in front of 300 healthcare stakeholders. Unveiling a larger-than-life golden JCI seal on stage, the moment symbolized not just the recognition but also the resilience, teamwork, and dedication required to achieve this standard.

Perspective From Leadership

Dr. Margo McCrae, Director of Strategic Service at Doctors Hospital, expressed her gratitude:

“This milestone represents more than a seal. It is a promise to our patients, our staff, and our community. Achieving this accreditation required every member of our team to rise to new challenges, adapt with resilience, and deliver excellence at every level of care. I am deeply proud of our staff for proving that exceptional healthcare is not only possible here in the Cayman Islands, it is thriving here.”

Dr. Yaron Rado, Chairman of the Board, highlighted the global significance:

“From its inception, that is for the last 25 years, Doctors Hospital has always believed that the Cayman Islands deserves, and can have locally-owned healthcare that meets the very highest international standards. Receiving JCI’s accreditation aligning with their most recent standards, which are in fact the strictest yet, validates that belief and demonstrates our ability to meet global benchmarks for sustainability, innovation, and patient safety. This is not just an achievement for our hospital, but for the entire Cayman community.”
